Trip itinerary: 7 days on Mallorca

Trip itinerary: 7 days on Mallorca
15. July, 2019 admin

Hey hey!

Beautiful beaches, picturesque valleys and boutique corners were one of the main reasons for our choice of visiting Mallorca. We took a plane there from Vienna, which is one of the nearest airports regarding our home location. The air service was LaudaMotion and the return ticket was only 40€ per person. After the second attempt, because of a rough turbulence, we managed to land on Palma de Mallorca airport in late hours.

The bus was already waiting for us and took us to our first destination, El Arenal, which is located in the near distance of the airport. El Arenal is famous for one of the most beautiful beaches on Mallorca, Playa de Palma. We spent the first night in a modern Whala! Fun 4* hotel (room 1/2 with breakfast 75€+) and we were just thrilled. The hotel is just 2 years old and has a rooftop terrace with open bar, deckchairs and pool.

Day 2

After a tasty diverse breakfast in hotel, Playa de Palma and the streets of El Arenal were waiting for us to explore them. The wake up call came early because we wanted to get as much as possible out of the first day. The marvellous view on the palm trees, snow white sand and sky blue water was fascinating us along the walk. While enjoying the view, we couldn't resist to stop, order a large macchiato coffee (5€) and calm our minds in the presence of waves.

Day 3

Our adventurous spirit was leading us on a way to the north side of the Island, more precisely to Port de Soller. This beautiful seaside town was a long time hidden fishing destination, sorrounded by Tramuntana mountains. We booked a rent-a-car (40€) in El Arenal to get here. Port de Soller is basically a seaside bay with many shops, restaurants a wide beach stretching across the bay.

We choose Los Geranios hotel 4* (room 1/2 with breakfast 170€) for accomodation.

One of the things you need to try here is local ice cream Fet a Soller with the taste of almonds, grown on Mallorca. On the north side of the bay, among the rustical streets, there is a view point, from where you can observe the cliffs and enjoy the view on the endless Balearic sea.

Day 4

Due to rain, we spent most of the day playing board games at the hotel. No matter the weather, it was my boyfriend's birthday and in the evening we went out to have dinner. We picked a local restaurant called NENI, located just few hundred meters from the bay. The restaurant was truly magical. We found ourselves in a huge selection of dishes with a touch of different cultures of the world.

NENI is owned by the Molcho family and you can really feel the love and the effort the put in their work. I must mention that the head of the family, Haya Molcho, is the author of 5 world-known cooking manuals.

Day 5

In the morning, we packed our things and prepared for the trip to our last destination of accommodation. The vintage train in Port de Soller, which was used in history for transporting fruit to ports on Mallorca, took us on a fairy tale drive among the valleys of lemon and orange trees.

Our stop was Soller, a small town known as the valley of oranges. On the internet, we found a small, family-oriented hotel near the city, Can’ Quatre. Carefully selected details, personalized ambience and artistic impression are the things that describe Can’ Quatre. We were amazed by the view on the magical mountain massif Serra Tramuntana from our suite terrace (suite 1/2 with breakfast 250€+).

On the afternoon we enjoyed in local cuisine next to the hotel pool. »Pa am boli« is a local speciality that you must try and it's basically bread with olive oil and tomatoes, salt, cheese or their typical ham »Jamon Serrano«.

Day 6

On the last day, two destinations were waiting for us. In the early morning, we took the car and headed to the capital, Palma de Mallorca. We visited the magnificent gothic cathedral, which is without doubt the most visited tourist attraction in Palma. It is sorounded by a park full of palm trees, which is the perfect destination for photography. Here, my daughter Mia had her name written as a picture by one of the street artists.

Walking around the streets of Palma de Mallorca, we had to stop to try »ensaimada« in one of the local coffee shops. Ensaimada is a local dessert you have to try, made of dough filled with different creams: vanilla, chocolate, caramel.. (4€+).

After a short visit, the road led us to another picturesque beach, Playa de Muro. During the way, we overlooked the full line on the road and we got a fine from the Mallorcan police (40€ / half price, if you pay at the moment). Playa de Muro is famous as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, which is an indisputable fact. The wooden pier, extending from the centre of the beach is definitely one of the best places to take photos.

After relaxing hours at the beach, we found ourselves wondering on boutique streets of Alcudia. Th small town fascinated us with its authentic character, paved streets and idyllic image.

Day 7

This was the last day of our vacation and we were sad because time flew so fast.

We loved every single thing about Mallorca and in the future we will surely return to this paradise island.
